Support for the Lake Michigan Mass Balance Study Needed

The Great Lakes National Program Office (GLNPO) of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S.EPA) is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a project to support of the Lake Michigan Mass Balance Study (LMMB) of the Enhanced Monitoring Program (EMP). The main goals of the study are listed in the RFP and are being pursued to provide information to environmental managers concerned with the reduciton of toxic contaminants in Lake Michigan. The data collected during the LMMB data collection phase will support a mass balance model of approximately the same level of complexity as that used for the Green Bay/Fox River Mass Balance Study.

The RFP is requesting the use of LMMB atmospheric data for PCBs, transnonachlor, mercury and atrazine to calculate atmospheric loadings for input into the atmospheric portion of the model and for validation purposes. Specifications for funding, and application directions are included in the RFP.

If you have questions, please contact the Great Lakes office at (312) 353-2117.
