Description
This facility is the Office of Research and Development's National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory (NHEERL) headquarters. The building houses EPA's Reproductive Toxicology Division (RTD), which brings together an unparalleled combination of expertise to study the health effects of environmental contaminants such as pesticides, air and drinking-water pollutants, and hazardous wastes on all stages of the life cycle.
In addition to this facility, EPA occupies several other buildings in the Research Triangle Park area, including:
- Main Building
- Chapel Hill Laboratory
- First Environments Early Learning Center
- National Computer Center
Unique Environmental Features
Green Power
- EPA offsets 100 percent of the electricity consumption at NHEERL with renewable energy certificates (RECs) purchased through the Agency's current blanket green power contract. Learn more about EPA's current and past blanket green power contracts.
Water Conservation
- In February 2009, NHEERL completed a water management plan (PDF) (18 pp, 384K, About PDF).
