| Community Profile In August and September of 2010, the City of Portland with the help of two local utilities launched a green power challenge to encourage residents and businesses to support renewable energy. By the end of the two month challenge, Portland had more than tripled the goal of 1,000 new signups with a total of 3,130 – 3,056 residential and 74 new business customers. In late October, the city of Portland was recognized as the nation’s largest Green Power Community as designated by the EPA at that time. | |
