| Community Profile Rockville is the third largest city in Maryland, occupying more than 13 square miles and serving as the county seat of Montgomery County. Rockville is located 12 miles northwest of Washington, D.C., and offers easy access to the District and neighboring jurisdictions. Rockville was named a Green Power Community in 2011, which made it the second community in the state to join the program. Committed to being a leader in sustainability, the City purchases more than 60 percent green power for its municipal operations and is proud of the community's collective contribution to purchasing green power and promoting environmental sustainability, energy innovation and a reduction in carbon emissions. | |
