| Community Profile On February 20, 2007 Santa Clara’s City Council decided to issue a bold challenge to all residents and businesses in the city: “Ten percent of the utility customers should be purchasing green power by the end of 2007.” The community continue to strives to reach this goal. “Santa Clara is known for its concern for the environment, so it is wonderful to receive national recognition for our ongoing commitment to renewable energy”, says Patricia Mahan, former Mayor for the City of Santa Clara. “This is a true community effort spearheaded by our municipal utility, and supported by the thousands of residents and businesses participating in the Santa Clara Green Power program.” | |
