| Community Profile The Town of Springdale is the gateway to Zion National Park in Southwest Utah. In this role, the Town welcomes nearly 3 million visitors to Springdale each year and seeks to do its part to become a more environmentally sustainable community. The Town of Springdale became a Green Power Community in 2008 through the efforts of many residents and community partners. The Green Springdale Initiative, which began in 2007, seeks to continue this effort to provide education about, and promote the use of, renewable energy. Many of the Town’s events and activities have a renewable energy focus. The Town of Springdale purchases 20 percent (128,400 kWh) of the total power used in Town operations through the local utility wind power program and has installed 54kW in solar generation capacity to offset a significant portion of power used in Town utility operations. | |
