Autodesk, Inc. is a leader in 3D design, engineering and entertainment software. Customers across the manufacturing, architecture, building, construction, and media and entertainment industries – including the last 17 Academy Award winners for Best Visual Effects – use Autodesk software to design, visualize and simulate their ideas.
Autodesk strives to reduce the environmental footprint of our facilities by designing efficient and sustainable buildings and workspaces, often through the use of our own software. We focus foremost on GHG emissions due to energy use since it has the most significant impact. Autodesk began its switch to green power when we started building our offices to achieve LEED certification in 2008, and we now use renewable energy wherever there is a local option available. In our U.S. offices, our energy mix includes 51 percent renewables. In addition to using green power when available, Autodesk voluntarily purchases carbon-neutral energy and renewable energy certificates and offsets. Globally, these totaled 7.4 million kilowatt-hours in fiscal year 2012, compared to 4.9 million kilowatt-hours the prior year.
“At Autodesk, we believe in reducing the environmental impacts of our operations, and using green power is one clear way to do that,” said Joe Chen, vice president of corporate real estate and facilities. “By creating efficient spaces and making smarter energy choices, our facilities have been able to contribute to the company’s carbon footprint reduction by 28 percent from our base year of FY09.”
