| Partner Profile Butte College was founded in 1967 and is situated on a 928 acre wildlife refuge nestled within the Sierra Nevada foothills of Northern California. The College is committed to reaching carbon neutrality by 2015 and reducing its energy consumption and purchasing green power are two vital aspects of its strategy. Butte College's commitment to green power includes a three phase solar array installation. Phase I: two arrays which total 1.06 MW DC, Phase II: five arrays which total 858 kW DC, and Phase III constructed so far: five arrays which total 153 kW DC on the main campus and one array of 450 kW DC at the Chico Center. The college plans to reach carbon neutrality through the three solar installation phases as well as reduction of energy use and by supplementing our transportation system with hybrid-diesel buses. | |
