| Partner Profile The City of Chula Vista, the 2nd largest jurisdiction in San Diego County, is a nationally-recognized leader in climate action planning and sustainability. To help improve local air quality and lower long-term utility costs, Chula Vista has integrated renewable energy into its community planning and municipal facilities. At the community level, Chula Vista requires all residential units to be pre-wired and pre-plumbed for solar photovoltaic and solar hot water, respectively. In addition, the City recently launched a commercial PACE program to help business owners finance solar arrays on their buildings and is exploring opportunities to create a similar program for residential property-owners. At municipal facilities, the Chula Vista City Council has set a target of meeting at least 20 percent of its energy demand through on-site renewable energy generation. To date, the City has installed solar photovoltaic systems at 13 municipal sites. | |
