As a Green Power Partner, the City of College Park purchases more than 1.5 million kilowatt-hours of wind power equal to 100 percent of its annual electricity use for city facilities and streetlights. The city's green power is equivalent to avoiding the carbon dioxide emissions of the use of nearly 140,000 gallons of gasoline or the equivalent amount of electricity needed to power nearly 155 average American homes annually. College Park is also home to the University of Maryland, another EPA Green Power Partner.
