| Partner Profile Lacey, Washington's municipal government serves a population of more than 40,000 residents and university students. Situated on Puget Sound in the shadow of Mt. Rainier, nearly 20 percent of the city has been set aside for parks, natural areas and open space. A Green Power Leadership Club member, Lacey began meeting all of its municipal electrical energy needs through the exclusive use of green power in 2007. The city uses 100 percent green electricity in all municipal buildings—including its city hall, library, community center, senior center, museum, and public works operations center—as well as for all water, reclaimed water, wastewater and stormwater utilities, parks and recreation facilities, and more than 3,000 streetlights and traffic signals. | |
