| Partner Profile The City of Lake Oswego recognizes that local government plays a vital role in fostering sustainability and is committed to adopting, implementing, and maintaining sustainable practices. Since 2005, the City has purchased more than 2.3 million kilowatt-hours (kWh) of wind power annually for the water treatment plant, the largest user of electricity from City operations. This green power purchase is an important strategy in the City's efforts to reduce its greenhouse emissions. Purchasing renewable energy for the Water Treatment Plant, in conjunction with implementing energy efficiency measures at the Plant, provides the City with an opportunity to increase public awareness about energy conservation, renewable energy, and the City's commitment to operating in a more sustainable manner. By purchasing renewable power, the City adds to the growing demand for the production and development of renewable energy in the Pacific Northwest. | |
