Partner Profile The City of Santa Monica, California, a 2001 Green Power Leadership Award winner, was the first municipality in the nation to purchase 100 percent green power in 1999. The City recently extended its contract withits green power supplier for another 1-year term. Under the terms of the agreement, the City will continue to receive 100 percent renewable energy for its facilities through the purchase of renewable energy certificates. The City is continuing its commitment to invest in solar photovoltaics and other forms of clean distributed generation at upcoming capital improvement projects, including 350 units of affordable housing, a new parking structure, and a public transit administration/maintenance facility.
