| Partner Profile Since January 2011, sixteen of the City’s top seventeen electric accounts have been powered by direct access service. These sixteen accounts, representing approximately 80 percent of the City’s electricity use, are fully powered through a direct access portfolio consisting of solar photovoltaics, wind, and biomass. In 2011 alone, the City purchased over 7 million kWh of renewable energy and is on pace to purchase even more in 2012. The City of Thousand Oaks prides itself on being a leader in environmental stewardship and shining example of optimization and efficiency for other public agencies nationwide. The strong direction and support for green energy efforts from City Council has propelled the City to become the region’s foremost leader in energy conservation, optimization, and renewable on-site generation. In reference to the great strides the City has made in green energy, Chuck Rogers, the City's Hill Canyon Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent, said "fortune favors the bold, so don't be afraid to be bold with your energy goals." This mindset has put Hill Canyon Treatment Plant well on its way to achieving 100 percent energy self-sufficiency in 2012. | |
