Coldwater Creek is an integrated triple-channel retailer of women's apparel, gifts and accessories through a growing number of retail stores, the Internet and catalogs. Recognizing the global importance of climate change, Coldwater Creek is receiving a significant portion of their energy needs from renewable energy certificates. On August 1, 2006, it implemented a companywide conversion to wind-generated electricity to power the Sandpoint headquarters, the West Virginia distribution center, customer contact centers, and retail stores across the nation. Through this commitment, the company believes it is providing concrete support to the burgeoning renewable energy market, encouraging its growth and helping to lessen the country's dependence on fossil fuels. The company is very encouraged by the growing number of businesses that are embracing green power. During the due diligence process, it became apparent that momentum is building as the business community realizes that a commitment to using renewable energy is both accessible and affordable. "The primary benefit comes with pursuing an opportunity to positively impact the environment by incorporating green power at a companywide level," commented Dave Gunter, Divisional Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations. "Beyond that, this commitment is very much in keeping with the mindset of the Coldwater Creek customer, not only in regard to environmental issues, but in relation to social responsibility in all areas."
