| Partner Profile Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut, is a founding member of the Green Power Partnership. With students spearheading a campaign to purchase green power through a $25 student fee surcharge, Connecticut College purchased almost 6.5 million kWh of renewable energy certificates during the 2003-2004 school year; 7.5 million kWh, covering 50 percent of the campus' electricity purchase in 2005-2006; and 100 percent in the 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and 2008-2009 school years. During the years of 2009-2013, the Student Government Association decided to scale back the purchase of renewable energy credits to 15 percent of our electricity purchases, or 2.25 million kWh annually, in order to free up more money in their Student Sustainability Fund (established through thr $25 student fee) for assessing the feasibility of establishing renewable energy on campus and completing other sustainability related projects. | |
