| Partner Profile Connecticut College in New London, Connecticut, is a founding member of the Green Power Partnership. With students spearheading a campaign to purchase green power through a $25 student fee surcharge, Connecticut College purchased almost 6.5 million kWh of renewable energy certificates during the 2003-2004 school year; 7.5 million kWh, covering 50 percent of the campus' electricity purchase in 2005-2006; and 100 percent in the 2006-2007, 2007-2008, and 2008-2009 school years. Through Student Government Association support of use of the renewable energy fund to also perform an on-site renewable energy feasibility assessment, an agreement was made to purchase wind RECs for 2009-2011 for 15 percent of our electricity purchase or 2.2 million kWh. | |
