| Partner Profile GUIDE is a regional, nonprofit, human services organization serving troubled children; at risk youth and families; and adults who have psychiatric challenges and disabilities. In addition to operating high quality and sustainable human service programs, the agency is committed to reducing its carbon footprint by relying on renewable energy sources wherever possible, reducing utilization of energy through facility modifications and client education, and encouraging supporters and constituents to increase their own commitment to a sustainable environment. Agency leadership and staff are beginning to learn about the benefits that are achieved by energy conservation—saving money and meeting a wider environmental stewardship responsibility. Remarking on GUIDE's new Green Initiative, Scott Birdsong, the agency's Executive Director stated: "Both the Board and Management are exceptionally excited about the agency's focus on the stewardship of resources with its opportunity to demonstrate ways that social service organizations can preserve resources for mission critical activities, while simultaneously playing our part in helping to sustain the planet." | |
