Interface Engineering provides integrated design and technical excellence for high performance buildings. The company’s commitment to ecologically sensitive solutions and innovative resource use for the built environment is rooted in its 40-year history. Interface has completed more than 110 LEED Certified Projects, including more than 75 Platinum or Gold rated buildings. The company’s expertise includes lighting, building technologies, energy consulting and commissioning.
Currently, Interface Engineering purchases almost 750,000 kilowatt-hours a year of renewable energy certificates (RECs) for the electricity use in its Portland, Sacramento, San Francisco and Seattle offices. Purchasing RECs complements ongoing sustainability efforts that include environmentally focused strategies, office operations and engineering consulting services.
Interface Engineering recognizes that buying green power helps promote new technologies, encourages new investments in U.S. renewable power sources, develops the green power markets and reduces the environmental impacts of its operations. The company’s recent work designing “net-zero” buildings places it in an evolving industry that is transforming the built environment. While currently designing futuristic buildings that produce their own energy, Interface also chooses to invest in RECs for its present electricity use.
