| Partner Profile Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California, installed a solar electric rooftop system in 2003, which, at that time, was the largest such system at any university in the world. The 725 kilowatt (kW) system generates nearly a million kilwatt-hous annually, which in addition to the University's green power purchase from its power provider. The solar rooftop system was installed on top of two of the university's largest buildings and covers 81,000 square feet of rooftop. "This is a big win for everyone," said Lynne B. Scarboro, Loyola Marymount University's vice-president for administration. "Loyola Marymount will have a cost-effective, reliable, non-polluting system that will save us more than $120,000 annually, and we will be contributing to the well-being of our planet, and in particular, the well-being of Southern California." Loyola Marymount was a 2003 Green Power Leadership Award winner. | |
