That means cutting the impact of its operations and supply chain while designing and manufacturing products with a lower carbon footprint. Motorola Solutions also aims to provide products and services that help its customers reduce their CO2 emissions. Since 2005, the company has reduced its carbon footprint by over 30 percent by implementing energy-saving measures, consolidating facilities and purchasing renewable energy. In 2012, Motorola Solutions purchased 40 million kilowatt hours of third-party certified renewable energy certificates, generated from wind-power sources, which represented about 23 percent of U.S. electricity purchases. For 2013, Motorola Solutions has purchased 42 million kilowatt hours of third-party certified renewable energy certificates, generated from wind, low-impact hydroelectric, landfill gas biomass and/or geothermal sources, which is estimated to represent almost 25 percent of U.S. electricity purchases. | |
