| Partner Profile Mt. Ashland Ski Area in Oregon signed a three year agreement in 2006 to offset its regular electrical use through the purchase of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs). The ski area purchases RECs equal to the electricity used to run the ski area lifts, night lights, day lodges, and the corporate office in Ashland. Mt. Ashland also asks its guest to help the non-profit ski area recover its investment by upgrading their season pass to a "Green Chair" pass for $20 and lift ticket buyers could upgrade their ticket with a $1 investment. The program was so successful that Mt. Ashland signed a three year extension in 2009. The ski area won a Silver Eagle environmental award for excellence in energy conservation/clean energy from the National Ski Association in May of 2007. | |
