Partner Profile REI is a national outdoor retail co-op dedicated to inspiring, educating and outfitting its members and the community for a lifetime of outdoor adventure and stewardship. Founded in 1938 by a group of Pacific Northwest mountaineers seeking quality equipment, REI is committed to promoting environmental stewardship and increasing access to and participation in outdoor recreation through education, volunteerism, financial contributions and a strong program of pursuing sustainable business operations. REI's primary motives for purchasing green power have been to achieve both environmental and financial benefits by mitigating our carbon footprint, diversifying our energy portfolio, and minimizing dependence on fossil fuel.
