| Partner Profile Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. strives to make the highest quality ales and lagers while maintaining a healthy balance between environmental stewardship, social equity and economic stability. Having a world class onsite energy generation and management program helps the company work toward achieving their goal of energy independence. Sierra Nevada has invested in one of the largest privately owned solar installations in the country. The system consists of over 10,500 individual PV panels and provides 2 MW of DC electricity for the brewery. Sierra Nevada's solar installation provides nearly 20% of the company's power needs. Coupled with the solar installation is a 1.2 MW hydrogen fuel cell installation which produces close to 55% of Sierra Nevada's energy needs. The fuel cell system runs on natural gas, but the company is working on offsetting the natural gas with a methane rich biogas produced onsite at Sierra Nevada's water treatment facility. | |
