| Partner Profile The Spirit Lake Community School is a K-12 school serving approximately 1,200 students. The school district generates a majority of its power from an on-site wind turbine. School officials feel that the use of on-site wind power is an educational, environmental, and economic advantage for the district. In addition, the high school facility converted to geothermal heating and cooling, which together with the school district's on-site wind turbine are used as a tool for education and hands on experience. The school has two windturbines, Windworld 250 installed in 1993 and a Micon 750 installed in 2001. | |
