Steelcase Inc. helps create great experiences for the world’s leading organizations – wherever work happens. Steelcase offers a comprehensive portfolio of furnishings, products, and services designed to unlock human promise and support the social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainability. Steelcase has recently contracted to purchase renewable energy equivalent to 100 percent of its global electricity consumption in 2014. In the United States, that means Steelcase will be purchasing over 121 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy in the form of third-party-certified renewable energy certificates (RECs) from wind energy facilities located in the U.S. that came online in 2011 or later. Steelcase invests in RECs to help expand the globe’s renewable energy portfolio and make green power available and affordable. Steelcase’s green power purchases and conservation efforts contribute to its corporate sustainability goals, including a goal to reduce the company’s overall environmental footprint by 25 percent by the end of 2020 and an ongoing commitment to the EPA Green Power Partnership and Climate Leaders programs. Steelcase’s investment in green power is also a powerful educational tool shared with others to convey the importance of replacing fossil-fuel-generated electricity with clean, renewable energy.
