| Partner Profile The Monarch School is a national leader in special education programs for children with neurological differences, and is Texas' healthiest, most sustainable K-12 school. Since 2007, Monarch has purchased green power to cover all of its energy use to help improve statewide air quality for kids' health. Monarch’s environmentally cutting-edge Chrysalis building achieved 'Designed to Earn the ENERGY STAR' (86 out of 100), LEED-NC v2.2 Gold certified, and multiple ENERGY STAR labels (currently 93 out of 100), saving $2.5 million on electricity over the life of the building, or 42.7 percent of the building's total costs. Monarch hopes that its experience will inspire the nation's 130,000 K-12 schools. Green power was Monarch's most affordable, vital first step in its sustainability adventure. | |
