| Partner Profile The Tower Companies, founded in 1947, is an award-winning family-owned real estate development company and purchases wind power to cover all of their electric energy needs. The company is EPA-certified carbon neutral, and is a member of EPA's ENERGY STAR and Green Power Partnership programs. Tower developed Blair Towns, the first U.S. Green Building Council LEED-certified apartment complex in the country, and in July 2011, it was certified LEED-EBOM Platinum, the first such certification in the world. Tower’s portfolio includes 4.5 million square feet of office buildings, office parks, 1,400 apartments, regional malls, residential communities, lifestyle centers, and hotels within the D.C. area. Of this total, 11 properties totaling 1.3 million square feet are LEED certified, three of the properties are LEED Platinum, and another three million square feet are under renovation to meet LEED certification. Their corporate headquarters, 2000 Tower Oaks Boulevard, was the first LEED Platinum-certified multi-tenant commercial building in the D.C. region. In 2003 and 2006, Tower won the EPA Green Power Purchaser Award. | |
