| Partner Profile Warren Wilson College is an independent, liberal arts college located outside Asheville, North Carolina. As a founding signatory of the College and University Presidents Climate Commitment, Warren Wilson College seeks to reduce its overall greenhouse gas emissions to 80 percent less than its 2007/2008 emissions by 2020 in pursuit of an eventual carbon-neutral footprint. Renewable energy, both the generation and the procurement of, plays an important role in achieving this goal. By meeting its electricity usage with 100 percent green power, Warren Wilson College estimates it reduces its total greenhouse gas emissions by 42 percent annually. In addition, the College operates a 13-kW solar array that is grid-tied, thus providing the region with a source of clean energy. | |
