| Partner Profile Weber State University (WSU) became a signatory of the American College & University Presidents' Climate Commitment in 2007. In 2009, WSU completed and adopted its first Climate Action Plan. In this plan, it is stated that WSU's vision is to become carbon neutral by the year 2050. The plan states that "to achieve this vision, Weber State University will initiate and aggressiviely puruse programs that address energy consumption through demand reduction, energy efficiency, conservation, and exploitation of alternative energy sources." Since the adoption of the Climate Action Plan, WSU has been working diligently to implement energy-efficiency/conservation projects and to construct or purchase green power. In Fiscal Year 2011, WSU purchased 4,323,600 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of renewable energy through Rocky Mountain Power's Blue Sky Program. Over the past year, WSU has also completed four solar projects: two solar PV projects and two solar thermal projects that are anticipated to produce nearly 500,0000 kWh annually. Therefore, to date, more than 12 percent of Weber State University's electricity is being produced by green power. | |
