Charles L. Grizzle

Biography

Charles L. Grizzle was reappointed by President Bush as Assistant Administrator for Administration and Resources Management of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He has served in the same position since Feb. 22, 1988.

EPA Administrator William K. Reilly said, "Charlie Grizzle is a doer, with a superb record in overseeing agency finances and facilities. I will continue to draw on his skills to make sure EPA runs smoothly and we retain and recruit excellent staff."

Grizzle is responsible for management of policy and operations in the areas of agency finances and budgeting, personnel, grants, procurement, information systems and facilities, including EPA's efforts to secure a new building sufficient in size and technical capabilities to meet the agency's growing mission. He has strengthened the agency's human resources program and directs a public/private partnership initiative to explore innovative approaches to financing environmental protection.

Grizzle was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Administration at the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) from 1983 to 1988. He joined USDA in 1982 as a special assistant to Secretary Block.

From 1974 to 1981, he was an officer of First National Bank of Louisville, Ky. He was Executive Director of the Republican Party of Kentucky in 1981.

Grizzle was born in Argillite, Ky., on July 22, 1948, and currently resides in McLean, Va. He is an alumnus of the University of Kentucky.
