Lewis S.W. Crampton

Biography

Lewis S.W. Crampton has been named Associate Administrator of the new EPA Office of Communications and Public Affairs. Since January 1989, Crampton had been a Special Assistant in the Office of the Administrator and led the Agency's Superfund Management Review effort. In addition, he served at EPA as Director of the Office of Management Systems and Evaluation from 1981 to 1984. Crampton, a native of Boston, Mass., graduated from Princeton's Woodrow Wilson School, received his master's degree from Harvard University and attended MIT's doctoral program in urban and regional planning. Crampton's new position is one of three new associate administrator positions being created under a reorganization of the Office of External Affairs. The other two associate administratorships are the Office of Regional Operations and State/Local Relations, headed by Judy Gleason, and the Office of Congressional and Legislative Affairs, under the direction of Pat Quinn. Crampton, Quinn and Gleason will report directly to the Administrator and Deputy Administrator.
