Envisioning Excellence presents the Framework for Effective School IAQ Programs: Six Key Drivers -- guidelines that detail the organizational approaches and practices that are fundamental to school IAQ program success -- and presents five profiles to demonstrate how different school districts applied the Framework to create enduring IAQ programs. Learn more about this exciting tool.

Has your school or school district taken action to establish an effective indoor air quality (IAQ) program that will improve your facility’s learning and working conditions and prevent future IAQ-related problems? If so, EPA encourages your school or school district to apply for the Indoor Air Quality Tools for Schools (IAQ TfS) National Leadership Award. This award recognizes schools and districts committed to providing a healthy and safe environment for students and staff as demonstrated by:
- Senior-level commitment to establish and maintain a sustainable IAQ program. Because senior management support is vital for ensuring that school personnel are able to successfully establish and maintain a sustainable IAQ program, all Leadership Award applicants must submit a signed Letter of Commitment from senior level
school officials.
- Relating your school IAQ strategies to the Framework for Effective School IAQ Programs. As highlighted in Envisioning Excellence, this Framework underlies effective school IAQ programs that achieve results. The IAQ TfS National Leadership Award recognizes schools and schools districts that have taken steps to ensure IAQ excellence by creating an IAQ program that embodies this Framework.
