Carnegie Mellon University

Carnegie Mellon University is converting undergraduate chemistry
laboratories (circa 1950's) in its Doherty Hall building to state-of-the-art
chemical engineering research labs. Doherty Hall is one of Carnegie
Mellon's original buildings, constructed in 1908. The entire building
utilities infrastructure is being replaced and several existing
research laboratories are being retrofitted for improved energy
efficiency.
As a separate project, the university is considering a new Building
as Power Plant, an educational center that would include laboratories
for simulation and computer graphic design. Through a variety of
technologies, this building would generate all of its power needs
on-site.
Founded in 1900 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Carnegie Mellon is
one of America's leading private research universities. Today, the
university consists of seven colleges and schools, including the
Carnegie Institute of Technology (engineering), the College of Fine
Arts, the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, the Mellon
College of Science, the Graduate School of Industrial Administration,
the School of Computer Science, and the H. John Heinz III School
of Public Policy and Management. To learn more about this partner,
