Find and Comment on EPA Regulations at Regulations.gov

Our regulations are deposited for public viewing in dockets on the Regulations.gov site. Furthermore, proposed regulations are almost always open to the public for comment. You may comment on them in several ways. Each rule tells you how in its ADDRESSES section. For every open-for-comment regulation, you can comment online via Regulations.gov. It is our official online public docket and comment system for both regulations and significant guidance.

We suggest you first read this introduction to Regulations.gov and some suggestions for how to search for EPA regulations:

Search for All Rules Open for Comment

If you are interested in any and all EPA documents open for comment:

  1. From the Regulations.gov home page, click the option labeled "Regulations with Comment Periods Closing Soon."
  2. Choose from the date ranges offered (e.g., "Closing Today" or "Closing Within 30 Days") or enter your own dates.
  3. You will be directed to the "Advanced Search" screen. A list will be displayed near the bottom of the screen; the list includes documents open for comment that fit the time frame you specified.
  4. From this "Advanced Search" screen, you can narrow your results. Check the box next to "EPA" in the "Agency" section to see only EPA documents. Or, check the box next to "Rulemaking" under the "Docket Type" to see only rules.
