- Frederick County has long been involved in the reduction of greenhouse gases on a voluntary basis at the Frederick County Landfill. The County installed an active collection system and flare in 2000. In 2007 the County entered into an agreement for the sale of greenhouse gas credit reductions and most recently has self developed a 2 MW LFG energy power project.
