- Peoria County is situated in Central Illinois where 183,000 people make their home in one of 3 cities or 11 villages. The County and City of Peoria jointly own a landfill, for which a board of City Council members, County Board members, and the public (a seven-person panel) oversee the policies and operations of the facility.
