- DeKalb County Sanitation was established as a department in 1937 providing county-wide services to residents and businesses for collection, transport, and disposal. In 2012, collection services for its population of 700,000 include household garbage, yard trimmings, and single stream recycling as well as a varity of commercial services. The Seminole Landfill has a 3.2-MW green electricity facility, LFG-to-RNG for pipeline injection, and a CNG Fueling Station open to the public. Other activities include composting, concrete crushing, and MSW and C&D disposal operation. The facility accepts tours for education purposes.
