- Fauquier County operates a landfill with a citizen's drop-off area (plastic, newspapers, glass, light bulbs, textiles, oil, antifreeze, etc.). Leachate that is currently recirculated will be treated in an on-site pretreatment plant (construction is estimated to start on August 1, 2004) prior to discharge to the sanitary sewer. LFG is collected and transported to on-site enginators. Electricity generated by enginators is distributed by PEPCO.
