Description: Humboldt Waste Management Authority (HWMA) is a joint-powers authority that manages the solid waste for Humboldt County. In addition, they own and manage the Cummings Road LF (undergoing closure), operate a green waste composting facility, a recycling facility, and handle all hazardous waste for the County. They are currently developing plans for a regional food waste digestion facility. This facility will divert the organics from the LF for the purpose of generating renewable energy and reducing the carbon footprint of their waste management strategy. Additionally, they are investigating alternatives for the best use of their existing LFG.
