Description: Sarasota County currently manages the operation of Phase I of the Class I landfill at the Central County Solid Waste Disposal Complex (CCSWDC). Facility permitting began in 1993 and Phase I began receiving waste in June 1998. Phase I is expected to reach capacity in 2010. The capacity of Phase I is nearly 6,000,000 cubic yards. A Tier II assessment was just completed on Phase I. Six small pencil flares are now installed at leachate cleanout pipes. Plans are to install a LFGE project by 2009.
