- The Shoals Solid Waste Disposal Authority (SSWA) operates an industrial landfill and MSW transfer station that serves all of Colbert County, AL. The industrial landfill receives approximately 800 tons/day of non-hazardous industrial waste and C&D. The current landfill site is a vertical expansion over a former sanitary landfill unit with >1,000,000 cubic yards in-place. They have begun construction of an LFG collection system and are presently working to perform a "due diligence" LFG feasibility study and to develop an LFG "utilization" program.
