- Spartanburg County owns and operates the Wellford Landfill in Wellford, SC. Methane gas from closed phases I-IV (65 acres) is flared. Phase V (35 acres) will be closed on or about June 2007, and has 19 passive vents. Spartanburg County would like to capture and utilize the methane gas generated at its landfill.
