- The St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Disposal District, LA serves a population of 100,000 in South Central Louisiana. The District provides residential collection and disposal services for over 35,000 homes. Active since 1986, the St. Landry Parish Landfill actively produces LFG that is continuously flared as part of a voluntary carbon reduction initiative. The District currently conditions and compresses the methane exclusively from the landfill biogas to fuel a fleet of vehicles used for solid waste operations and law enforcement. Commissioned in 2012, the fueling station is one of only two used in small scale applications in the United States.
