To use this tool, simply find the appropriate equation, and type the value you would like converted in the entry box on the left. Then press the Tab button to generate the converted value in the box on the right.
Assumptions: Methane content of LFG is 50% Methane heat content is 1,012 Btu/scf methane Weighted average heat rate for LFG-fired engines, turbines, and boiler/steam turbines is 11,700 Btu/kWh Amount of LFG in scfm is the amount of LFG available for utilization
Note: 1 mmBtu/hr = 1 decatherm/hr Assumptions: Methane content of LFG is 50% Methane heat content is 1,012 Btu/scf methane Amount of LFG in scfm is the amount of LFG available for utilization
Assumption: 300 scfm of LFG is available for utilization for every million tons of WIP
Assumptions: 300 scfm of LFG is available for utilization for every million tons of WIP Methane content of LFG is 50% Methane heat content is 1,012 Btu/scf methane Weighted average heat rate for LFG-fired engines, turbines, and boiler/steam turbines is 11,700 Btu/kWh

Assumption: Methane heat content is 1,012 Btu/scf methane
Assumption: Net capacity factor of 0.85 accounts for availability, operating load, and parasitic losses of generating unit(s)
Note: Assuming an average waste density and depth for a typical landfill acre containing municipal solid waste, it is estimated that an LFG collection well will recover approximately 10 to 30 standard cubic feet per minute (scfm) of LFG. Assumption: Ratio of LFG collection wells to acres of landfill waste is 1 (i.e., 1 well per acre)
Assumption: Global Warming Potential (GWP) for methane is 21
