Jennifer L. Cashdollar

Title: Microbiologist

EPA Division: Microbial and Chemical Assessment Research Division

EPA Branch: Biohazard Assessment Research Branch

My research focus is on the development of methods to detect viral pathogens in drinking water including examination of tissue culture methods to improve the detection of culturable waterborne enteric viruses; to standardize methods for detecting viruses in water including sample collection, filtration, concentration, and analysis by cell culture and molecular methods; to evaluate new methods for viral inactivation; to evaluate new viability assays for enteric viruses beyond traditional cell culture techniques; to examine the host cell’s molecular response to viral infection in order to improve the culture of slow-growing or non-culturable viruses.
