Summary
City Council Workshop and Site Update
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 will attend the Washington City Council Workshop Meeting on April 1, 2024, to provide information and answer questions regarding the Sporlan Valve Plant #1 Superfund Site.
Over the next several weeks, EPA will be conducting groundwater investigations under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), commonly known as Superfund. EPA’s work will include the installation and sampling of several groundwater monitoring wells to determine the extent of contaminants emanating from the former Sporlan Valve Site.

EPA representatives will attend the workshop at 5:30 p.m. and provide a site update presentation. EPA will be available during and after the workshop to talk with the community to address questions and concerns regarding the site.
