Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO)

 

AAPCHO has released Community-Based Participatory Research: A Health Center Toolkit with Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders.  This toolkit is intended as a handbook for community health centers (CHCs) and researchers interested in collaborative research activities.   The toolkit contains an array of useful information for working with any community.

The Center for Excellence in Assisted Living (CEAL) and the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research/University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC)

 

CEAL and UNC co-sponsored the publication of A Manual for Community-Based Participatory Research: Using Research to Improve Practice and Inform Policy in Assisted Living.  This manual explains the principles and methods of CBPR, how to develop a CBPR collaboration, how to put CBPR into action, how to collect and analyze data in a CBPR framework, and how to evaluate and sustain CBPR collaborations.

Examining Community-Institutional Partnerships for Prevention Research Group

The Examining Community-Institutional Partnerships for Prevention Research Group created Developing & Sustaining CBPR Partnerships: A Skill-Building Curriculum, an evidence-based curriculum in intended as a tool for partnerships that are using or planning to use a CBPR approach to improving health.  Units cover stages of a CBPR partnership from getting started to sustaining the partnership.

Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)

 

CIHR defines knowledge translation as “a dynamic and iterative process that includes synthesis, dissemination, exchange, and ethically sound application of knowledge to improve the health of Canadians…”  CIHR has announced three learning modules on knowledge translation:  1) A Guide to Researcher and Knowledge-User Collaboration in Health Research; 2) Introduction to Evidence-Informed Decision Making; and 3) Critical Appraisal of Intervention Studies

American Public Health Association (APHA)

Community-Based Public Health Caucus (CBPHC)

APHA’s CBPHC is guided by the belief that Community lies at the heart of public health, and that interventions work best when they are rooted in the values, knowledge, expertise, and interests of the community itself.  The CBPHC works in conjunction with the National Community-Based Organization Network (NCBON), who encourage the growth and development of community-based organizations (CBOs).
