EPA STAR Grantees Among the Most Cited in Environment and Ecology
Monday, April 14, 2003
NCER Staff Writer

WASHINGTON (NCER) - Five Science To Achieve Results (STAR) grantees are listed as the most-cited scientists in the fields of environmental science and ecology from 1992 to 2002. The "Top 20" list was compiled by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI), an internationally recognized company specializing in scientific databases and retrieval services. The top 20 most-cited scientists were taken from a pool of 1,975 scientists comprising the top 1% ranked by total citation count in this field. The frequency by which scientists cite journal publications by others in their own work indicates the impact of individual papers or the cumulative work of specific researchers in the scientific community. The complete listing can be found at: http://www.in-cites.com/scientists/env-eco.html. exit EPA

The STAR grantees and their locations on the ISI list are:

STAR Grantee Location ISI Ranking Articles Citations

ISI has also compiled a list of the 250 most cited scientists in environmental science and ecology. Forty-two Science to Achieve Results (STAR) grantees, representing 18.5 percent of the highly cited listing are currently included in ISI's top 250 designation. ISI's topical listings for highly cited scientists can be viewed at: http://isihighlycited.com exit EPA
