| Purpose: | The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the National
Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI), and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS) are sponsoring the third biannual meeting to discuss the role of air pollutants in cardiovascular disease (CVD). The meeting will focus on mechanisms of environmentally induced cardiovascular disease and susceptibility factors for environmental CVD. To add new perspectives to this discussion, leading investigators from cardiovascular disciplines not related to environmental science have been invited to give insights into the "state of the science." The goal of the meeting will be to provide participants with an opportunity to hear and discuss the latest research related to air pollutants and cardiovascular disease, interact with other investigators in environmental cardiology and other areas of cardiovascular research, and help identify future research directions for this field. EPA and NIEHS grant recipients from 2004 will feature their work in poster sessions. We also encourage other researchers to submit abstracts (see link below for registration).
