Purpose: This workshop will feature presentations by EPA STAR grant recipients whose research involves the environmental applications of nanotechnology. In addition, other speakers will give the perspective of the national Nanoscale Science, Engineering and Technology Committee; describe EPA needs for nanotechnology research or uses; and discuss efforts by the EPA's Office of Research and Development to respond to these needs. The goal of the workshop will be to assess the progress made in advancing environmental nanotechnology through STAR research grants. In addition, the conference will serve as a catalyst for stimulating discussion and collaboration among researchers and technical managers in EPA program and regional offices. The conference is open to members of the academic, government, and industrial communities as well as the general public.
